This year my sweet daughter and her boyfriend are taking care of all the Thanksgiving prep, meal, place to gather. I’m very grateful as I wouldn’t be able to do the heavy lifting and motions involved in turkey/stuffing/potatoes etc.
I’m continuing on my healing journey. At the one week mark I am still sore, swollen, and desperate for a good night’s sleep. Not good having to sleep somewhat propped up on my back and trying to shift on my unaffected side involves great arranging of pillows which then just wakes me up further. Sigh. This too shall pass.
I had a little wander taking pictures today to find a new image for my header photo. Here are the runners-up, some Autumn Joy Sedum and a pretty hydrangea.
Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians. I think it’s going to be a nice autumn day with a beautiful Hunter’s moon to finish it off.
Happy Thanksgiving to you! How nice when family pitches in when needed. Hope your recovery goes smoothly and you get better sleep soon.
ReplyDeleteAs you say, this will pass.
ReplyDeleteLove the Sedum picture
so glad family are pitching in with thanksgiving. Your autumn leaves header is just glorious.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving. xx
ReplyDeleteYes, Happy Thanksgiving! And so glad the worse is over. You will heal and all will be well.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you're having the sleep issues -- understandable but not fun in any event. It's tough, not sleeping. But I'm so glad you will have full on help for Thanksgiving. YOu're right -- not something you should be doing and I know they will love doing for you.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving. Your daughter and her boyfriend taking on Thanksgiving sounds perfect. With your tips and expertise available to them, they'll do just fine.
ReplyDeleteYour Fall photos show lots of color and are beautiful. With a bit more healing, i'm thinking your sleep will improve.
I am thankful for having you as a blogger buddy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Jenn! I like your new header photo -- colourful and artistic! I hope you get a good night's sleep again soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving. We love you new header and the sedums. Sedums are great for nectar collecting insects, so we really love them. Here's to getting better sleep as the nights get longer and you heal.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, Jenn. Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving. How lovely that your daughter & her partner have risen to the challenges of Thanksgiving dinner - she's had a good teacher, so I know the meal will be/was delicious. That full moon last night lit up the mottled cloud sky last night, it was beautiful. Sending healing thoughts for a good nights sleep. ... Mary-Lou
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos. Daughter and boyfriend are blessings, to be sure. Now you can look forward to Thanksgiving without the unneeded stress. Wishing you a one good nights sleep after another. Don't worry, that to will come.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are beautiful, and you picked the best for the header. What a sweet daughter and boyfriend to do the Thanksgiving work for you. Hope your swelling and soreness go away soon. That trying to get comfortable all night is awful! You are right, this too shall pass. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone. Update: the Thanksgiving meal went off without a hitch. They were a little nervous as this was their first time, but they did great. And... I slept more last night. Even dreamed! Yay!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! Good to hear the meal went well, and even better that you got a decent sleep.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, so sorry to hear of your health issues, sending you healing prayers.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! That Autumn Joy Sedum is gorgeous. I have one blooming in my garden right now. I envy you your hydrangea! I used to have a lot of them when we were living in Kingston. I haven't planted one yet...maybe next year. It seems like we're going to have a nice autumn. Fingers crossed that we do!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! I'm glad you didn't have to make it happen and could just enjoy. The colors in that hydrangea are fascinating. I hope you get sleep soon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings upon your dear daughter for engineering your Thanksgiving. They (daughters) can really come through at just the right time, can't they? Mine has yet to make a turkey, but I keep telling her it's not that hard. Oh well, she's great at all the other dishes that compliment the bird! I well remember when I smooshed my ribs a couple of months ago and how hard it was to sleep. Guess we don't appreciate good sleep until it is difficult to get. Hang in there. You're healing . . . but never fast enough! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that when Mom is down, daughter takes over. As it should be, right?
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving. I do hope that by now you are getting better rest.
