Bringing back Mundane Monday

I think it’s worth a revisit. Today’s topic is “ my spot”. Where is your spot? Where do you almost always sit to watch tv or converse? Last night the whole family was round and we watched the new Elvis movie ( daughter’s boyfriend had rented it through some account or other). I switched where I was sitting so more people could fit on the couch and in the room. It felt very awkward. Normally, this is my spot, the end of a three cushioned couch, so I can stretch out, have access to the coffee table, and see the tv.

There is a two-cushioned matching couch on the opposite side of the room where husband's spot is.

If I am out on the “ front porch”, then this is my spot:

As you can see it is partially occupied.

My father had a rocking chair for a long time which was his spot, book in hand, cat on lap.

So, where is your spot?

(I’ve amended my post and decided not to include an email address for picture sending, for those of you who may have seen the original post).

    1. Yes, I can look out at my garden and I set my cup on the windowsill.

  2. Because I am handicapped I have my special chair and that is where I always sit as the chair is raised. If I sit on either of the settees I have no means of getting up! Wish I could send you a photo but my camera skills are nil.

    1. Hi Weaver! That’s fine - I’m certain not everyone will send a photo. I’ll just imagine you in your special chair!

  3. When we watch TV, I sit on the left side of the couch but not near the end. I leave enough space for my cats to come and sit beside me. Because...you know...they rule the house!

  4. I have several spots, depending on which room I'm in. Generally in the den when watching TV with DH. He has his easy chair and ottoman and I sit on the sofa nearest him with my knitted afghan. My favorite spot is on my bed leaning against pillows with Snuffy (grey stuffed elephant) on my lap (used to be my cats) and a book in my hand.

  5. I have a rocker, swivel, recliner chair that I sit in the watch tv. I gave up cable so some of my streaming of showing is done on my large tablet. I prop up in bed and enjoy.

  6. I watch TV up in my bedroom and have a nice comfy chair with ottoman that my sister and her husband handed down to me.

  7. At the lake, my spot inside is a ratty green wingback chair with springs coming out of the back, but it is comfy to sit in and just the right height, with good back support, so I resist replacement ideas. On the porch, one of the comfy wicker chairs our neighbor gave us. And at home, like you, a corner of the sofa, close to end and coffee tables!

    1. This made me think of the tv show, “Frasier” and the beat up recliner his father sat in! If it’s comfortable, that’s what counts!

  8. My spot for watching tv is usually in my bed (but I seldom watch tv). Nine times out of ten, if I'm reading that's also usually my bed. If I'm on the back porch, the coral rocking chair is mine. Everyone knows this.

  9. I have a certain spot I like to sit while out back near the pool area and then I have ONE corner of the large couch that is mine, all mine. ;) You are sweet to give up your spot for movie time...but I'm sure it wasn't hard to switch it up since you had family visiting.

  10. I have a recliner. To elevate my feet.

  11. Outside I have my hanging egg chair. I love it as I can swing gently back and forth and look out at all the plants on the deck. Inside I have a rather large chair surrounded by cushions where I do my knitting and handwork. It is really hard for me to give up my space when we have company.

    God bless.

  12. F sits anywhere (including the floor) - which is really annoying for a cat that likes to get comfortable. xxx Mr T

  13. I have a comfortable armchair and a pouffe for my legs and always sit in the same place. I am flexible enough to move around if necessary but my preferred seat is my chair with my things around it. I gather everything up from time to time and tidy it but soon it all goes back and looks as before.

  14. We have a three seater, large dark blue leather sofa...I sit on the right hand end, book case on the right backing on a wall, then the kitchen door. Going around from there I see the smaller living room window looking into the greenhouse.
On the opposite wall to the right, above a long sideboard is the wall for card or print display, with the Pirate's Laziboy chair in front looking to the centre of the room. Opposite me is the unused fireplace with cluttered mantelpiece, Dad's clock steadily ticking on the wall, surrounded by my friends' work.
Then some tall corner shelves in an alcove holding a jug collection and in the far left corner, a TV.
Working around, the large front window has a floor standing embroidery frame with a quilt pinned on it, in process of being quilted, and the table we eat at in front of it.
Working left, a Canterbury full of books with the phone on top, and a tall book case full, on the same wall as the sofa, and the door to the front between that and the other end of the sofa.
So, a picture in words.and yes, if I sit elsewhere..I am uncomfortable!!

  15. Darn. I just flung a cover over my grotty old armchair and took a photo. Can totally understand why you don't want to put out your email.
We have two armchairs. Must be about 15 years old. From IKEA. Don't let anyone tell you their stuff doesn't last. They've still got plenty of life in them. I suppose they are recliners . We sort of kick out leg support and the back goes down
    I love my chair .
Everyone has their happy spot 😁😁

    1. Yes, sorry about that. I chickened out because my email includes my entire name. Maybe some day I should create a different one. Surprisingly we don't have any IKEA stuff here (the closest IKEA is hours away, so it's not a place we frequent - maybe been to one twice in my lifetime). And yes, it seems everyone has their happy spot, conveniently located.

  16. I really do not have a particular single favorite chair. I selected all the furniture in the house and I like each and every piece but the only chair I sit in daily for meals and often for reading is a rosewood and linen cushioned kitchen chair that sits next to a large round black granite table with stainless steel legs.

  17. Oh, my spot is the left end of the old leather couch. Now, if I stretch out my legs, they have to stay on the edge because Ellie takes up the other end. Isn't it funny how we have spots and feel so out of place when someone takes them.
