I couldn't imagine my life without these two. This picture is from a family holiday we took last January.
When life gets stressful, or down, or I just need a mental reset, I think of how lucky we are as a family. Other people have dealt with illnesses or major difficulties with their children and ours have been healthy, happy, independent, thoughtful, kind, and all around decent human beings. Daughter is currently 30 (just turned!) and son is 26. She is getting married in August and he has a lovely girlfriend.
I'll be going out for brunch with the two of them later today and hopefully the weather will be nice enough that they are going to help me get my vegetable garden ready (weeded, rototilled, rows marked out...). My own mom has been gone now for many years, but husband's mother is currently in a long term care home and he will see her today. She is 87 and physically still quite well (but has dementia).
Happy mother's day to all of you who have raised and cared for children. May you have a nice meal, outing, or even just a phone call today with your loved ones!
I used to think Mother's (and Father's) Days were just an excuse for shops to make a profit. But this morning my son and daughter in law made a great brunch for us all. It was a simple way to mark this special day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mothers Day! Enjoy the brunch and rototilling! Great photo of your kids.
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed to have such wonderful children. I know the joy when you're all together. Enjoy their company...... and get them to work lol
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day! I agree that family is a blessing... we also have been very lucky that our 3 kids have married and given us beautiful grandchildren... and although we have had some heartbreaks along the way, life has been good.
ReplyDeleteyou are a fortunate woman to have such loving children.

ReplyDeleteSo nice to see their faces. All grown up now, but i seem to remember when they were quite young.
ReplyDeleteNice to see a post from you, Jenn. As you can see I am behind on reading blogs, but these hot days have given me a chance to catch up.
It's nice to see this update from you.
ReplyDeleteI have the same thoughts about my kiddos; I'm so fortunate to have them, and they are two people whom I could be with all the time and never tire of! I hope your day was great.
