This is all I have...

I don't write about work, and I don't write about "personal" life, so this is all I have to offer.


Behold my smoothie. This was my breakfast a couple of days ago. My home is decorated in very traditional colours with lots of wood. But there is a little piece of me that adores pink and green - together. When I made my smoothie, it turned out to be such a lovely shade of pink that I popped a spring green straw (bendy!!) in it to create the perfect combination.

This smoothie was, I believe, frozen chunks of banana, frozen strawberries (from my very own garden, although it is very weedy, Mama Pea), frozen cherries, vanilla protein powder, and a little container of whatever yogurt I grabbed out of the fridge.

You can see from the picture that part of my normal routine in the morning after showering, putting on my face, straightening my crazy frizzy hair, is to have a coffee  while sitting at the computer desk and reading blogs. Then breakfast at the same computer desk. After that I throw a lunch together, sometimes make a sandwich for a child if I'm feeling nice and motherly (they're not really children anymore and can make their own), and then off to work. If you look closely, I was reading Martha's blog, Plowing Through Life. If you haven't read it, it's great! Another Canadian girl, like myself.

I don't always have a smoothie. In fact, I can't eat the same breakfast every day or I would go berserk. I need to change up my food. I always have coffee, though. No sugar, just milk. Instant coffee. Yup.

And there you have it folks, I have just written a post about my breakfast. It's a safe subject. We can all relate.

  1. Yum! My shortcut breakfast is yogurt with a tsp. of jam mixed in. Also half a banana with peanut butter. This is it every day (so I don`t even have to be awake to fix it) except the weekends when I have something with eggs.

  2. Well at least you posted.....I'm down to Poetrh Monday and Words for Wednesdahy lately...I can't think of anything to say that anyone would be interested in. By the way...I DO have the same thing every morning...oatmeal with blueberries and instant coffee.

    I'm an instant coffee girl, too. And only milk, no sugar! :) Thanks for the shoutout! That is really nice...very...Canadian! LOL

  5. I vary my breakfast because really I don't want to eat breakfast at all and so I have to make myself! I never know what I am going to write in a blog post, I just sit down and start writing and something usually happens!

    1. Generally, no you usually get your beer in a large glass. My husband's mom and grandmother lived in England for part of their lives and he and his family visited there often. His father loved the pint glasses so much, they bought some to use at home. These are just ones we bought here.

  9. So THAT'S where my fourth glass mug went!! They're our designated smoothie mugs and I had one that looked just like yours (except for the green straw) for lunch today. Both hubby and I seem to require something warmish for breakfast, but noon is our smoothie time. Truthfully, I had four of those mugs for eons, then a couple of years ago dropped one in the sink. Sink survived, mug did not.

    My weed-free strawberry bed (as of a few days ago) is going to be over-run with the blasted quack grass shortly if I don't get out there and get the mulch put in place. We had rain (finally) day before yesterday and yesterday was too wet to work outside. Today I'm inside babying a mysterious crick in my back. Drat. It's a gorgeous sunny day and I want to be outside, but am trying (is it working?) to be sensible.

  10. I love a breakfast smoothie too. Mine is 1 cup natural yogurt, 1 cup well washed baby spinach, 1/2 cup frozen berries and 3 tablespoons maple syrup. I have difficulty eating since my surgery, but this smoothie really gets me through to dinner.

  11. I hate to burst your bubble but I think you did just write about your personal life. At least to me, breakfast is very personal! And now I know about your morning routine and coffee too. And guess what -- I LOVE it. (And can identify -- except about the coffee!) The smoothie looks very good indeed!

  13. Yum! I might give that combo a try. I understand the want to avoid talking about anything that might be "controversial" .. like an opinion or work post or personal issues, etc. When I started blogging I had the same rules, but found I was holding back from how I really wanted to express myself - and that was to share with whomever cared enough to read it and even comment... the things that weighed heavy or brought joy, etc. So I kinda fly by the seat of my pants in that regard.

  14. But what a fascinating smoothie it is! I love pink and green! There are way too many times that I blog when I have nothing to say and should keep it at that. But I rarely have the sense to keep my virtual mouth shut (real one, either, for that matter...)
