I wrote a little while ago that we had been having a relatively mild winter... thus far.

This happened in less than 24 hours.

I used my plastic shovel to scrape some snow from the side and back windows of my vehicle. I had taken it out yesterday and it had been parked under the car port and had no snow on it.

It is pretty, though. It's like meringue on a pie. A very cold pie. The sun is shining this morning, so that makes it more bearable.

The sky is a brilliant blue and many times in the forecast it says there will be two hours of sun,or one, or zero per day, so I'll take it.

To continue about my teaching situation, seven regions in Ontario are allowed to return back to school as of Monday due to relatively low counts. We are one of those regions. This is a huge relief to parents who have been under a lot of strain trying to figure out work and child care, as well as becoming their child's teacher. It is difficult to straddle those two roles. I am happy to be going back into the school as well.

  2. That looks like 2+ feet of snow. White snow and a bright blue sky with sunshine is gorgeous. I'd like some snow, as presently we have none. If the snow is fluffy and light, I recently discovered I can use my leaf blower to blow the snow off the car. If it is heavier, I use my floor sponge mop to push the snow off. Quick and easy.

    1. Not sure it was that much, but it did go over my boots when I walked out to the chickens.

  3. You got snow! We're predicted to get 2-4" overnight into Sunday, but guess where the most of the snow is going. South of us again!! All we have is a few inches of old, half melted snow and lots of ICE.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear you're going back into the classroom again. Let's hope it can be for the rest of the year. Your kids will be soooo happy.

    1. I think they will be happy - but they're a happy bunch anyway.

  4. Good positive vibes coming from.you Jenn, as always. I love you for it. Our local Covid numbers have also fallen here and hospital admissions are down on last week. A step in the right direction.

    1. Thank you, but I fully admit that I can be very negative. I just try to fight it. Our province is still in full lockdown, but the schools are in a different category, I guess.

    1. For me, I'm back to routine, but daughter is still working from home, son is still not in his college programme, and husband is retired, so same thing for him. I think it will still be months and months until routine is resumed, but I will take what I can get.

  6. Schools still in total lockdown here.

    1. Yes, and for most in the province, it continues. We are just in a nice pocket that hasn't been affected as much (and not hugely populated).

  7. Ooh, that's a lot of snow! I hope it's not headed our way. As you said, we have gotten off fairly lightly so far this winter. Glad you are getting back to in=person teaching. Here, my daughter is hoping to be back in class mid-February but the numbers here are only dropping very slightly.

  10. Oh my that is a lot of snow at once! Hope the roads are clear for you by Monday.
I'm sure being back in the classroom will be good for the children and also less stressful for you and their parents.

    Take care, stay well!

    1. Oh, the roads were cleared within a few hours. I've been out to get groceries. It is good for the children to see each other and to have some place to go and something to do away from a screen.

  11. You got a big dump o' snow there! It's turned bitchin' cold here too. Probably for the next week, at least. Time to plug in the car!

    1. Ahh, yes, you "Westerners" have to plug in your vehicles. But it's a "dry cold".

  12. So nice for you to have the chance to see the kids again and finish your teaching time at school, retiring in lockdown would be such an anticlimax.

  13. I sure know how you feel about the kids being in school. We have about 1/3 of our students back and the rest are dying to return. I hope all goes well.

  14. I think it must be beyond belief to be back in school. I'd shovel the drive and the car for that.

  15. You said "we've been having a relatively mild winter" and the snow gods said "here, take that!" Glad you're going back into the classroom. I don't know how you teachers have done it with all the upheaval this past year. God bless you all.

    1. Really, we're just doing our jobs like a bunch of other people in these remarkable times. I just prefer to do it in person. And yes, we did get a bit cocky with the weather, didn't we!

  16. Enjoy your return to the classroom - a drive safely in all that snow. Your tree looks particularly beautiful.

  17. That sky is a gorgeous blue. Great contrast against the snow. Reminds me of ours now and again, in midsummer lol
Our schools go back next Monday. It must be a relief for the teachers but I know my grandkids aren't too happy. There's no camera for their online lessons and they up to all sorts of things while they're supposed to be taking part in lessons.

    1. The whole talking to your students in their homes thing is pretty odd. I had little ones still chatting to me in their pajamas!

  18. We got frost, the closest thing we get to snow.

  19. Same here! We didn't have much snow and it was quite mild. Well... Now we've got tons of snow and lots of cold! Welcome to Canada. :)

  21. We got snow today in South East England. I took a couple of photos and will put them on my blog tomorrow. The chicken run is quite dark with the snow on the roof. It is very cold (for us) for a few days but then warming up a bit so I don't expect it to stay for long. Your photos are beautiful.

  22. I have just put out my blog post. Yesterday's snow looked like black and white photos but I took the same views today and like your photos there is now snow and blue sky. Quite unusual for us.

  23. It does look beautiful. I'm not a big fan of big snow -- but I'll never say that when it is fresh and new, it isn't magical!

I'm so glad you get to go back to school! Hooray!
