Last night the wind blew and the snow came in diagonally. Prior to that most of our snow was gone and I was noticing the little red nubs of the peonies pushing through the earth. This morning the snow has covered everything and there is more coming.
None of this is surprising. Here is the weather in the days to come this week, just to see how crazy and varied it can be at this time of year:
This is tomorrow's and Tuesday's forecast. Nothing above zero (celsius) . Please note the "feels like" temperatures as well. I have no idea if other parts of the world include "feels like".
Hope abounds as we look at Wednesday and Thursday. Why, it's practically shorts weather at a high of 15 (feels like 13) on Thursday. Mind you, it plummets to zero over night.
Ha, ha, more fool you, as we approach Friday with snowfall and below zero temperatures again, to wake up to a "feels like -9" on Saturday morning.
And this is why Canadians tend to talk about the weather a lot.
Yep, Canadians and I think those of us in the States that are just below you! We, too, get the "feels like" temperatures. We're back in the deep freeze now and are expecting another dumping of snow mid-week. But the sun is now high enough and strong enough (kinda sorta) that we're getting a bit of melting some days. For us, March is scheduled to go out like a lion. Can't do anything about the weather though, can we? Better than the tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts, and flooding other people are dealing with, but March certainly provides challenges!
ReplyDeleteOh for sure you are in the same boat! Oddly enough we do get a tornado and/ or tornado warnings in my part of the province from time to time. And yes, it did come in like a lamb so….
DeleteYup, that's Spring in Canada!
ReplyDeleteYup. We got the cold again too. And snow. Temps probably the same as yours. It's March.
ReplyDeleteIt is 16C in Calgary today, go figure!
ReplyDeleteHeavens, those are really big ups and downs. Those days and are way way way down. Bet you'll be making the most of those 'ups'. Get those shorts ready.
ReplyDeleteWe have the 'feels like' temps too but only online. Just feels like cold to me lol
We finally have spring but the spring sun has a bite. No shorts around here yet
Fahrenheit is our measure, and back in Illinois (where I grew up)the ups and downs of temperature changed from spring to winter to kinda summer to freezing again. I always hate Feb. and March.
ReplyDeleteYes, we get the "feels like temperatures" to - but here in the south, usually that comes into play in the summer. Our temperatures are nothing compared to yours but we are getting whiplash with all the one day it's cold and the next two are warm and balmy and then we swing back into the cold. I think in the next couple of weeks we will finally be done with the cold here.
ReplyDeleteMarch is so unpredictable!
ReplyDeleteWe are having 20-30 degree swings in temperatures in Massachusetts Recently we had 60 degree F days. Tonight will be 20+ and tomorrow it will be 32 degrees. Today I dressed in 3 layers. The wind was brutal. That said, the sky was blue and the sunshine was brilliant.
ReplyDeleteToday it was calm and sunny at 32C
ReplyDeleteThis is good.
Okay- You win!!!! I won't complain about my weather today...even though we are way below normal temps and have snow on the ground still. Have a warm week! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWell it's still only March, and you are in Canada so.........
ReplyDeleteWe also get 'feels like' in our forecasts which where I live on the east coast is very significant because the "feels like" is often much colder than the actual. We also have big fluctuations in temperatures and from having temperatures last week of 18C we are down this week to 9 and lower. It is a significant difference. We are an island and used to it but I still would like warmer temperatures more consistently!
ReplyDeleteHAHA! Yes, that's why we talk about the weather a lot. March is such an unpredictable month.
ReplyDeleteYou've pretty much covered it!!! -14C this AM, but the sun is peeking up!!!
ReplyDeleteYes we have feels like weather and we are fluctuating pretty much the same. Today -6C and Wednesday predicted as 4c. I had to use a conversion chart. I think metric is superior to the measurement system the US still uses except for temperature - not enough easily discernable degree separation for me.
ReplyDeletethe Ol'Buzzard
Truth! The saying that if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes isn't totally unrealistic.
ReplyDeleteMarch stinks.
ReplyDeleteWow. I can't even imagine temps that low! Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteYesterday morning (in Georgia) the temp was 40, but we had a feels like 33 degrees. So yes, other places do it too.
Winter descended on us here on the prairies once again. I am so looking forward to spring.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Brrrr makes me shiver just looking at your snow photograph.. please keep it there, our peach tree is flowering and minus temps would mean no peaches for us!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn! Yeah...the weather. Though I'm much happier here in NB than in Quebec where I had snow until mid-May...everything was melting then bang! Snow storm!! Oh, I had to giggle at the comment you left on my blog...I'm SO HAPPY you finally know why they were singing KILL THE WABBIT!!! LOL!! ♥
ReplyDeleteGosh, and I thought we had a lot of cold weather. You are much colder. I am so surprised that your flowers are coming up in this wicked cold. Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.
ReplyDeleteI will not complain about the cold weather again. I will not complain about the cold weather again. What you have is seriously cold weather, and days and days of it. :) My peonies are through the ground too, about a foot tall. Hope your snow melts soon and you get warmer weather.
ReplyDeleteToday is Easter Sunday. We've been cold, then hot, cold, warm, cold (yesterday that wind was cutting). Today is cool. But 70s & 80s again by the weekend. I'm ready to put in my cool weather garden.
ReplyDeleteQuestion for a future post perhaps: Do you plan your menu according to the weather/temps? I do. :)
