My husband's mother spent time in England when she was younger and she would call her back yard (in Ontario) a garden. It made no sense to me because a garden is either a spot for flowers or vegetables and she had neither. -Jenncoffeeontheporchwithmehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17618627688821849806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372726504543914139.post-58620436307135371562016-06-05T19:54:14.537-04:002016-06-05T19:54:14.537-04:00Yard sales are very popular around here, and the A...Yard sales are very popular around here, and the Amish flock to them! However...where we live, on a farm in the country doesn't attract many people. I've had two, I think...and never made out very well. The development yard sales are where people make lots of money. They can park and walk to a whole bunch at a time, and they draw huge crowds!Alicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17973714830730420149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372726504543914139.post-19689344769293597992016-06-05T14:26:52.666-04:002016-06-05T14:26:52.666-04:00 Jenn, The yard sales around here are not good at ... Jenn, The yard sales around here are not good at all, just cheap used clothing and stuff you would never want. I used to hold an antique sale on my property every couple of years to thin out my excess. The dreaded part is hauling all the unsold items back into the house.jerilandershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07418564262425621746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372726504543914139.post-15609327922722806182016-06-05T04:22:44.355-04:002016-06-05T04:22:44.355-04:00I don'tthink we have them here in the UK (wher...I don'tthink we have them here in the UK (where we call a yard a garden) but we do have sales called bring and buy, where you can have a table for a nominal sum. Not really conducive to having a sale in our backyard. For a couple of years now, we've had a WONDERFUL resale shop for furniture. You can take just about anything there if it is in decent condition. It's a donation on your part but the proceeds from all sales are given back to worthy causes in the community. Because of the way it's run, everyone feels good about taking pieces there and not having to pay to dump them. Or to bother to advertise and sell them. You can find amazing things there for VERY reasonable prices. I currently have a lovely living room chair with beautiful upholstery in my attic (as I have no room for it in my living area) that I got there. For $20. I couldn't pass it up.Mama Peahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03649357184167949247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2372726504543914139.post-6454443237776845382016-06-04T21:48:09.822-04:002016-06-04T21:48:09.822-04:00We have a yearly sidewalk sale on our street. Our weather was HOT and beautiful today. I would love to box things up for the Salvation Army but the stuff I'm stuck with is furniture / a tv. So funny. Our town had it's city wide yard sales this weekend also. I saw it as I drove thru yesterday but did not stop anywhere.
